“Our hard-earned money can be lost in a snap because of scammers.”
For one senior citizen in Barangay Sta. Teresita, Quezon City, those words captured a growing community concern. Digital platforms are now part of everyday life, from paying bills and sending money to selling goods and managing small livelihoods. One wrong click can put years of hard work at risk.
On September 30, the Rotary Club of Roosevelt, together with Scam Watch Pilipinas, brought digital safety education to its adopted Barangay Sta. Teresita, with the support of Barangay Captain Rogelio Lanuza and community leaders.
Through “Mag-Isip Muna Bago Mag- Click,” Scam Watch Pilipinas Lead Volunteer Watcher Sonny Daanoy introduced the KontraScam Attitude: Magdamot, Magduda, Mang-Snob, at Magsumbong sa 1326, giving seniors practical defenses against online fraud.
The impact goes beyond those in the room. Every informed senior can bring that knowledge home, helping family members and neighbors become more cautious online. By protecting household resources, small livelihoods, and hard- earned income, the initiative advances Rotary’s commitment to Community Economic Development and builds a more informed and resilient community.
Because when knowledge is shared, protection spreads, and an entire community becomes stronger.
